1) New Product Review
To participate in the New Product Review process within the Derivatives Client Services space.
2) Centre of Excellence
To keep abreast of developments in the derivatives business in order to service the PWMs, CSOs and Financial Product Group.
To this end, the incumbent shall have sound knowledge in the following:
Products
FX, Equity, Debt / Fixed Income and Commodities
Fixings / Expiries / Exercise Decisions
Understanding of the monitoring of upcoming fixings, expiries, exercises for relevant products, and the need for appropriate information flow and action on a timely basis.
Trade / Settlement Related Issues
Understanding of settlement-related issues – facing both Street and client accounts.
Trade Reconciliation
Understanding of the control issues around population / position control and reconciliation processes of all derivatives trades done for the clients, and with other ML entities and various authorised brokers.
3) Trade Confirmations
To ensure that all relevant confirmations are dispatched on time and track the return of the executed confirmations. Maintain a log of unreturned confirmations to facilitate a weekly aging analysis, and prompt follow up with the PWMs and CSOs.
4) Maintain Open Dialogue
To maintain two-way communication with various Infrastructure segments, product specialists, PWMs and CSOs.
5) Procedures and Policies
To work closely with Ops Risk, Compliance and Legal as required to ensure procedures are developed, refined, observed and updated as the business evolves or as mandated by the relevant regulators.
6) Projects
To lead / participate in ad-hoc initiatives and project roll-outs to streamline processes and to improve effectiveness and efficiency of the team.
7) Staff development
Oversee staff development, and arrange training where necessary to ensure that staff are adequately equipped to carry out their respective functions.
Additionally, institute a job rotation programme within the team to ensure sufficient coverage across the functions, and to promote variety in the staff’s learning and training schedule.
Professional experience and business exposure
Minimum six – eight years working experience in the Operations or Middle Office (three years in a supervisory role), with a sound knowledge of FX, equity, commodities and debt derivatives.
Sound knowledge in derivatives, settlement / remittances, corporate actions, expiries / exercises of products with optionality
Familiarity with month-end price sources for securities such as Bloomberg and Reuters an advantage
